Heidefisch Salmon Trout Wins Seafood Star 2025

Wechsler Feinfisch, in cooperation with heidefisch, wins the Seafood Star 2025 for the best self-service product at the Fisheries Summit in Hamburg on November 6, 2024.

The Seafood Star Best Fish Product was launched in 2013 to promote and recognize product development and marketing in the fish industry. It is an initiative of FischMagazin, the international trade magazine for the entire fishing industry, published by SN-Verlag Hamburg.

Product applications for the Seafood Star Best Fish Product must undergo a rigorous selection process, conducted by all participants of the Fisheries Summit, all of whom are renowned industry experts.

Heideforelle Wins the Seafood Star as Best Fish Product

In the Best Fish Product (Self-Service Product) category, the "Heideforelle" was victorious. The "Heideforelle" comes from our fish farm in Meinholz. The Best Fish Product (Self-Service Product) is a cold-smoked salmon trout, smoked by Wechsler Feinfisch using traditional methods, available in a 100g pack in food retail from February 2025.

The family businesses Wechsler and Winkelmann stand for traditional craftsmanship and sustainable fish farming. A good cooperation that combines quality, tradition, and skill. The sustainability aspect of the salmon trout raised in the Lüneburg Heath was convincing. Heidefisch is Germany's first ASC-certified fish farm and stands for sustainable aquaculture. We rely on particularly environmentally friendly technologies to protect both the flora and fauna of the stream and to provide the salmon trout with clear and clean water for species-appropriate growth. The water is filtered six times and reused. Thus, the demand for fresh water is only 5%. Through the modern keeping method, the well-coordinated feeding, and the advanced water treatment by biofilters, our fish farm operates very environmentally friendly.
